Privacy

Your data is yours. We don't track you, we don't profile you, and we never will.

Super Basic Studio is built by an independent American maker who believes privacy isn't a feature, it's a right. Every product we ship respects that.

Your data is not a product.Your usage patterns are not a metric.Your attention is not inventory to be sold. You are not a monthly active user, you're a person.

Big tech treats your data as their product. They track every click, every scroll, every pause. They sell access to your attention to advertisers. They bury privacy settings behind seven menus and call it “user choice.”

We're done with that.

We build products that treat your data as none of our business. No accounts. No clouds. No strings attached. If that means we stay small, we stay small. The mission doesn't change.

The Non-Negotiables

No Ads. Ever.

No banner ads, no sponsored content, no "upgrade to remove ads" dark patterns. If an app needs ads to survive, it doesn't deserve to exist. Our products are funded by the people who use them, not by selling your attention to the highest bidder.

Your Data Is Yours. Period.

We don't collect it. We don't sell it. We don't "anonymize" it and share it with "partners." If a feature needs data, collection is explicitly opt-in with defaults OFF. That data makes the product better, it's never sold, never shared, never monetized behind your back.

Privacy by Default, Not by Upgrade

Privacy isn't a premium feature you unlock. It's the baseline. Every product ships with zero tracking, zero telemetry, zero phone-home behavior. If we ever need diagnostic data, we'll ask you directly and explain exactly what and why.

Open Source When Possible

Schematics, firmware, source code, we publish what we can. You should be able to inspect, modify, and build on the things you buy. Open source isn't a marketing buzzword for us. It's how we prove we're not hiding anything.

Local-First Always

Your data lives on your machine in standard formats. No cloud sync, no account required, no internet dependency. If you can't use it offline, we haven't shipped it yet.

No Lock-in

Export your data anytime in standard formats. We won't hold your data hostage or make it hard to leave. If you want out, you're out, with everything you brought in.

Information You Provide

We may collect personal information such as your name, email address, and company name when you submit a contact form or hire us. We may also collect and display testimonials or feedback about our products and services with your consent.

Use of Customer Information

With your consent, we may use your company name, logo, or testimonials on our website or marketing materials. You can opt-out of promotional communications at any time.

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No data transmission over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-Party AI Model Usage

When using applications that integrate with AI models (Ollama, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.): SuperBasic Studio is not responsible for content generated by third-party AI models. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated content. We are not sponsored, endorsed by, or affiliated with any AI provider.

API Key Security

API keys are used only temporarily during active sessions, processed in memory, and immediately discarded. We never store API keys in databases or server logs. You are responsible for keeping your keys confidential, rotating them regularly, and monitoring usage.

Local Application Scanning

Desktop applications (such as Fresh Mayhem and Fresh Porpoise) may perform local scanning of your Ollama installation to detect available models, or scan USB-connected hardware devices for identification. This scanning happens entirely on your local machine. No data from these scans is transmitted to SuperBasic Studio.

Device Performance Monitoring

Some applications may access device performance metrics (RAM, CPU) for real-time feedback within the app. This data is used solely for display and never transmitted to our servers. Preferences are stored in browser local storage only, never cloud-synced.

EULA Acceptance & Machine Identification

When you accept the Terms of Use within a desktop application, a local acceptance record is saved to your machine. This record contains:

  • Acceptance status (boolean)
  • Date and time of acceptance
  • Application version at time of acceptance
  • Machine identifier, a one-way SHA-256 hash derived from hardware characteristics
  • Integrity hash, an HMAC signature to verify the record has not been tampered with

The machine identifier is NOT personally identifiable information. It is a cryptographic hash that cannot be reversed to recover the original hardware details (such as CPU model, hostname, or RAM). It serves only as a unique, anonymous reference to verify that the same machine accepted the terms. This record is stored locally on your machine and is never transmitted to Super Basic Studio.

Your Privacy Rights

  • Request access to your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Opt out of any communications
  • Request we stop using your testimonials
